Overview:

Employers are required by law to carry out risk assessments of display screens and workstations. This online risk assessment enables the rapid identification of risks and provides managers with accurate and succinct data on which to base corrective action.

What does this mean to the individual?

By assessing the risks associated with the VDU and workstation, the user is able to highlight potential health and safety issues before they result in injury or ill-health. The use of a properly constructed risk assessment means that there is no danger of missing potential hazards, and such hazards are presented to the manager or health and safety representative in a clear and objective way.

What does this mean to the organisation?

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Health and Safety(Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 place significant responsibilities upon employers for the health and safety of their staff. This risk assessment will enable the organisation to identify and deal with relevant health and safety risks at an early stage, and so aid compliance with this legislation.
